 The Amanda Westermier Flag
The Amanda Westermier Memorial Foundation flag was actually designed by Amanda herself two years prior to her death. After her passing, in one of her English notebooks from school, a rough draft of the flag was found. She was given the assignment to draw a flag that best describes her personality. The foundation flag is directly based on what she drew.
This flag gives a brief glimpse into the personality of a beautiful child. Its words, pictures, and slogans represent the spirit of a precisions life that was heartbreakingly cut short. The top three words were character traits she valued highly. The bottom three words were some of her most cherished interests. The pictures represent a loving peaceful heart always smiling and of course involving horses. She signed her emails "Gotta Go, Gotta Go, Gotta Rodeo" in which the family received previously sent email reminders of the upcoming rodeo season long after her passing. The foundation logo was added when the flag was made to be flown at the first annual memorial rodeo.
The flag is normally flown at half staff to represent the heart-felt pain that has gone into the creation of this foundation. However, it flies proudly at full staff during a sanctioned event to represent a commitment to excellence and a great day to rodeo.
